  1. Nice job FMPD. Hate to have your job, but back away from the knife.

What about a shot to the leg or something?

A shot in the leg may not stop some one from sticking you a dozen times in a death grip. The officer has a right to see his family. We don’t pay ANYONE enough to chance being stabbed just for your delicate sensibilities.

  4. Are you kidding? He forged out of a closet with that knife brandished toward the officer. He led officers on a chase just prior to this. That officer did what was necessary.

How about Ryan’s family?!?! I know he had 3/4 young kids. Didnt they deserve ta see their dad again? Last I knew cops carried tasers too. He shot him MULTIPUL TIMES!!!! A lil over kill don’t you think?

    • If your dumb enough to lead the cops on a chase all while carrying a knife (had plenty of time to ditch knife while running) and then you hide in a closet STILL holding the knife and still don’t surrender when you clearly should, but rather you come out of the closet carrying the knife well…. Here’s your sign!

  6. Got what he deserved. You don’t go around slashing peoples tires in the middle of the night and then run from cops if you’re a “good person”

  7. I think there is more to this story than is being told. This is a one sided story at this point. You don’t take a knife to a gun fight, and you don’t have to unload your weapon on the perp. He did only have a knife, and far to many cops, shoot people to death that brandish a knife. Overkill!!

    • BINGO! I never knew the punishment for slashing car tires was the death sentence. I never knew we had that in Iowa.
