Iowa 2014 Hunting Season comes with Changes

Summer is coming to an end and it has Iowa hunters itching to get back out into the timber.

Willy Suchy with the Iowa DNR says there is one season that’s still fairly new. This will be the 4th year for dove season…

The DNR is also introducing something new this year. It’s a special teal-only duck season. Suchy says it’s a three year experiment due to large teal populations right now. That season begins in September.

Deer populations however, are not as strong and there will be some changes because of it…

On a positive note, the Iowa DNR is currently conducting their August Roadside Survey and say they have received some reports from southeast Iowa showing more quail and pheasant than expected..

Suchy reminds people that all animals shot or captured have to be utilized for fur or food.
