Cougars Beat Bees Again; Special Memorial at Community Field Tonight

The Burlington Bees had the lead three times during yesterday’s game in Kane County, but the Cougars rallied each time and closed out the 8th inning with a 5-run exclamation point.

The final score was 7-3.    The Bees are back home tonight to start a 3-game series with Cedar Rapids…and you can hear all the action on KBUR.

***The Des Moines County Humane Society will also hold a memorial tonight at Community Field for former Hawk Eye sportswriter Susan Denk, who died Monday of a heart attack. The team will have a moment of silence for Denk before tonight’s game as well.

And it’s now official — The Southeastern Community College volleyball program has been suspended for the 2014-2015 season because they are still without a head coach. The college has conducted a number of interviews but have not found the right fit.   According to an SCC press release, Scc’s Women Athletic Director Melissa Flores said that since they haven’t had a coach since Februrary, the Blackhawks have basically missed out on an entire recruiting season. College officials hope to have a new coach by December.
