The investigation is incomplete, but local authorities say a 69-year old man apparently drowned last(Mon) night in a pond near Sperry.
The victim, who according to initial reports had gone to the pond to wash off, was found in shallow water a few minutes before 8 o’clock. He was taken from the scene at 115-86 180th Street to Great River Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Des Moines County Sheriff’s deputies say the man’s name will be released after his relatives have been notified.
