Local band “Kross Kountry” provided the musical background for yesterday’s(Sun) Gulfport Fish Fry…the 52nd annual.
KBUR News asked Mayor Rich Myers about the Village’s levee certification…something it’s been waiting and hoping for since 2008. He says if they can get those federal funds, the work can be done locally by the Henderson County Highway Department.
So, who can play the role of Superman…or Superwoman? It’s a federal issue, so local Congresswoman Cheri Bustos could wear the costume, but Myers says they’ve also been in contact with former Congressman Bobby Schilling, who had been working on the issue when he lost to Bustos two years ago.
And speaking of politics, the Des Moines-Henry County Labor Council will hold its annual picnic at 40 & 8 Park…right behind Community Field in Burlington …today(Mon) from 4-7…and Democratic gubernatorial candidate Jack Hatch will be there, along with Democratic Congressman Dave Loebsack.
