Bees Begin Playoffs with Shutout

The Burlington Bees shut out the Cedar Rapids Kernels 2-0 last night on the road, in the first game of the Midwest League’s Western Division playoffs.

The Bees’ next two games…tonight and tomorrow night, if needed…will be played at Community Field in Burlington.

 

In girls high school volleyball…

South Fulton came back to beat West Hancock in 3 games, 20-25, 25-14 and 15-13.

 

In boys golf…

Burlington’s Jace Mueller shot a 71 for medalist honors and BHS finished 4th at the Assumption Invitational in Davenport.   Team honors went to the host school, followed by Bettendorf two shots back…PV five more strokes behind…and then Burlington with a 327, 19 shots off the pace.

The West Central boys beat Stark County 182-208, as the Heat’s Jacob Wetzel shot a 38 at the Lake Calhoun Country Club in Lafayette(IL).

 

On the “grownup” golf scene, the 54th annual Iowa Wife-Husband Championship gets underway today at Burlington Golf Club.   68 couples are entered.
