ReLeaf Program Offers Relief from Heat, Cold, Wind & Runoff

Residents in eight Iowa communities…two of them in our area…can get landscape-quality trees at a deep discount through a program launching in a few weeks.

Alliant Energy and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources are teaming up to offer Operation ReLeaf.

The trees are between three and eight feet in height and would retail anywhere from 65 to 125-dollars, but will be offered for just 25-dollars each during the events. Wagner says the program runs twice a year and it’s been incredibly popular.

It’s also saved millions of gallons of water in storm runoff. While many people think spring is the only good time to plant a tree, Wagner says fall is also ideal.

Operation ReLeaf events will be held October 2 at Fairfield and October 4 at Donnellson.
