Barbara Jean Mason, 81, of Dallas City, IL passed away at 4:45 a.m. Sunday, September 7, 2014 at the LaHarpe-Davier Health Care Center, LaHarpe, IL.
She was born on October 25, 1932 in Fort Madison, IA the daughter of Frank T. and Irene Gross Genck.
After high school, Barbara briefly served in the United States Air Force. Mrs. Mason worked for many years and eventually retired from the Hancock County Health Department.
Barbara is survived by five children, Terri Bowman of Carman, IL, Mike Fields of Niota, IL, Mary Antes of Fort Madison, IA, Kelly Mason of Dallas City, and Audra Steinhaus of Carthage, IL, 18 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two brothers, Mike Genck of Canton, MO and Bill Genck of Quincy, IL.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Donald Bradley Mason and Rodney Fields, one grandson, Damian Mathew Mason, two brothers, Bob Genck and Jack Genck and one sister, Betty Brooks.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 11, 2014 in the Oakland Cemetery in Ft. Madison with Pastor Joe Stewart officiating. There will be no visitation.
