The sinkhole on Main Street…just north of Valley in downtown Burlington…is sinking again…the 4th time it’s done so this year.

Streets & Sewer Maintenance Director Chris Clements says they’re doing the only thing they can do — locate the problem (last time it was some old steam lines that had collapsed), dig up the last patch and get back to work filling in the hole.
Even though Burlington has had other sinkholes, Clements says he’s lost some sleep…and possibly some hair…over this one, because it keeps returning.
No one’s been hurt so far on the busy stretch of street.
