If you missed it over the weekend, Iowa Attorney General Tom Miller’s office has cleared a Ft. Madison policeman in the fatal shooting, last month, of a 29-year old man.
Officer Karl Judd, who’s been on paid leave since the incident, fired three shots at Ryan Swearingen, as the victim came at him with a knife during the early morning of August 3rd inside Swearingen’s home.
The Lee County Attorney’s office referred the case to the Attorney General to avoid a potential conflict-of-interest and the A-G called the shooting a justifiable homicide, albeit regrettable.
