Mepo Man Learns Cause-and-Effect the Hard Way

It was like a giant game of pinball on wheels…fueled by alcohol.

A Mediapolis man hit two garages, a car and three utility poles early yesterday(Sun) morning. It all happened in the 2500 block of Gnahn Street in Burlington, when 44-year old Don Ammon drove his car onto one property, hitting a pole in the process. Police say he then straightened out, drove down that driveway, hitting a car and pushing it into a garage door, which in turn damaged a second car in the garage. Ammon backed out, hit another pole, drove onto a second property and struck another garage door there, before heading back to the first property, where he hit a third pole and got stuck.

Ammon’s passenger, Jacob Williams, was injured at some point and taken to Great River Medical Center. Ammon was charged with drunk driving, driving without insurance, striking a fixture, reckless driving, causing an injury and having open containers of alcohol in a vehicle.
