Obituaries Tuesday September 30th

Joseph Theodore Schulte, age 83 of Sperry, died Saturday September 27, 2014 at his home. The son of Theodore and Lillian (McLaughlin) Schulte, he was born August 28, 1931 at Burlington. On August 8, 1953 he married Virginia Ann Peterson at Dodgeville; she died December 19, 2008. He was a 1949 graduate of the Sperry High School. He was a farmer and worked as a rural mail carrier. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dodgeville. He enjoyed his family, watching sports, golfing and fishing.

Survivors include: two sons, Dan and Cindy Schulte of Sperry; Ed and Amy Schulte of Muscatine; two daughters, Diane and Rick Wolz of Kansas City, MO.; Lynn and Mark Trimble of St. Louis, MO.; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren; two brothers, Tom Schulte of Burlington and Leo Schulte of Mediapolis; one sister, Irene Wasson of Burlington; He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one sister Mary Ellen and one brother Jack.

The funeral service will be Thursday October 2, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dodgeville, with Rev. David Steinle officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Church Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 2-7:30 p.m. at Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Mediapolis, where the family will meet with friends from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Memorials have been established for St. Mary’s Church and the Mediapolis Community Ambulance.

Bruce Daniel Maudlin, 50, of Burlington, Iowa, died at home on Sunday, September 28, 2014.

Born on April 11, 1964 in St. Joseph, Missouri, he was the son of Daniel A. and Marilyn D. Brown Maudlin.

Bruce was a 1982 graduate of Burlington High School. He then went on to graduate from Hamilton Technical College, Davenport, Iowa. He loved books, movies and animals, especially his cat “Georgie”. He was a member of First Christian Church, (Disciples of Christ).

He is survived by his parents, Dan and Marilyn; one sister, Janet (Mark) Mumme of Leshara, Nebraska; two uncles, Don Brown of Stanberry, Missouri and David (Ginger) Maudlin of St. Joseph, Missouri; six aunts, Evelyn Ruby of Nixa, Missouri, Jean Rinehart of Lawson, Missouri, Jewell Marcum of Monahans, Texas, Betty Smith of Allendale, Missouri, Madelyn Brooke of Raytown, Missouri and Rhonda Moore of Belton, Missouri; one nephew, Nathan Rippenger of Ward, Arkansas; two nieces, Cierra Mumee of Carrollton, Missouri and Joni Mumme, Yutan, Nebraska; and two great-nieces.

He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents.

The memorial service for Bruce Maudlin will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Burlington, Iowa. Pastor David Younker will officiate. Interment will be in Kirk Cemetery, Allendale, Missouri at a later date.
