Area Roads Undergo Repairs, Rebuilding, Transformations

A number of area roads are in the news this week.

In Des Moines County, Engineer Brian Carter told supervisors that the work on Mediapolis Road west of Mediapolis is coming along nicely. In Burlington, Mt. Pleasant Street has been picked for some asphalt repairs, so there’s just one westbound lane between Roosevelt and West Burlington Avenue.

In Ft. Madison, the city council has hired a Cedar Rapids company to conduct a study of Business-61at 2nd Street, an intersection that had to be shut down this past summer because of the after-effects of flooding. And south of Wever, the Lee County Board decided this week to place stop signs on 180th Street, where it intersects with 358th and 370th Avenues, an area that has much more traffic than it used to, now that the fertilizer plant is being built.
