Obituaries October 16th

Clark Wesley Dunn, 69, of Colusa, IL passed away at 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at his home.

Clark was born on May 4, 1945 in Ft. Madison Iowa, the son of Wesley and Bernice Dunn. On July 21, 1984 he married Lori Troxell in Libertyville, Illinois, she survives.
He was a graduate of Dallas City High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force as an F-101 Crew Chief from 1965 – 1969. Afterwards, Clark worked as a mechanic for Melton’s Automotive in Dallas City, owned/operated his own dump truck, and farmed. In addition he drove semi for John Haage and worked at Skerricks. In 1980 he became a full-time Rural Mail Carrier in Niota, IL – taking over the same route that his father had retired from. Clark retired from the US Postal Service in 2007. During his mail carrier years, he also owned and operated Main Street Repair in Colusa – servicing small engines and lawn mowers. After Clark’s retirement, he drove a dump truck for Scanlan and Sparrow Trucking.
Clark was an excellent mechanic and could fix anything. He loved to fish and travel, especially to Texas. That love of Texas carried over to his favorite sports teams as well – The Dallas Cowboys, The Texas Rangers and of course the Texas Longhorns. He also loved cars and all forms of racing, NASCAR’s Carl Edwards and especially go-karting with his youngest son and grandson. Clark loved mowing, helping people, working on his pond and spending time with his kids and grandchildren – especially his Fourth of July Fish Fry and Fireworks displays.

Survivors include his wife, his mother Bernice of Ft. Madison, Iowa, 3 sons, Eric Dunn (Janelle Howe) of Tulsa Oklahoma, Bryan(Kelli) Dunn of Normal, Illinois, and Cody, a student at Drake University in Des Moines. Clark had 4 grandchildren, Wes, & Taylor Dunn of Iowa City, Tyler and Mason Dunn of Normal, Illinois, 2 brothers Steve (Pam) of Dallas City, & Ray of Valencia, California, and a brother-in-law Rex Troxell of Libertyville, Illinois, nephew Joel(Linda) Dunn of Kelley Iowa, Chad Hutson of Pasadena and niece McKenzie Dunn of Valencia, California, niece Britton (Sean)Godfrey of Mason, Wisconsin, nephew Keenan Doolittle of Ashland, WI & his dogs, Lacey & best friend Dixie.
Clark was preceded in death by his father Wesley Dunn, his grandparents, George & Lulu Dunn, & grandmother, Nellie Clark, his beloved Grampa Henry Ray Clark, a brother-in-law, John Bannick, and a sister-in-law Pam Troxell.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday October 20, 2014 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City with Pastor Doug Clark officiating. Burial with Military Rites will be held in Harris Cemetery, rural Dallas City. Friends may call any time after 1:00 PM Sunday October 19 at the Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 3:00 until 5:00 PM.
