Serious Accidents Abound as Weekend Approaches

Another fatal accident on the Illinois side of the river:

85-year old Shirley Bradshaw of rural Abingdon was killed, when she pulled out of her driveway on Berwick Road around 9 am yesterday and into the path of an eastbound car containing 25-year old Sharayah Snyder (also of rural Abingdon) and a 3-year old girl. Bradshaw died later of her injuries…Snyder was hurt, but it was not life-threatening…and State Police say the child did suffer a serious injury. All three were taken to hospitals in Galesburg.

 
Three young-people were killed…a fourth seriously injured…early yesterday(Thur) morning in a one-car crash south of Macomb. The victims have been identified as the 21-year old driver…Gabrielle Yocum of Springfield & Macomb…and two of her passengers…Cassie Roberts, also 21 and from Macomb…and 23-year old Cedric Huffman of Bushnell & Macomb. A third passenger…23-year old Justin Beer…was taken to OSF Hospital in Peoria.

Troopers say the 2010 Jeep was headed west on North 900th Road…just west of East 1000th Road…shortly after 2 o’clock yesterday(Thur) morning when the SUV left the roadway on the north side…drove more than 200 feet through a ditch…and struck a tree, then an embankment. All four victims were wearing their seatbelts.

Deputies, paramedics and EMT’s from McDonough County…Colchester…Macomb…and Emmet-Chalmers all assisted at the scene.

 

 

And yesterday(Thur) afternoon in Burlington, 18-year old Rory Gant of 12-05 Doemland Street was seriously injured when his speeding motorcycle collided with a car driven by 51-year old Terry Parsons of 17-23 Louisa Street. The loud crash occurred around 2:30 at Central Avenue and Locust Street and Gant…who was not wearing a helmet…had to be transferred from Great River Medical Center to Iowa City.
