SCC Groundbreaking Done; New Bids for Health Ctr. are Next Task

Southeastern Community College officials and others symbolically broke ground yesterday(Mon) for a new, $10,000,000 health professions center.

“Symbolically,” because construction won’t actually begin til spring…assuming the bids come in lower than they did the first time, when the Board of Trustees threw them out. School President Michael Ash says he’s optimistic and determined.

Greater Burlington Partnership CEO Jason Hutcheson told the crowd that economic development is no longer based mainly on bricks, mortar and property, but a well-trained, skilled workforce.

Ash says the 38,000 square foot center should be operational by the Spring of 2016.
