Braley Campaigns for U-S Senate at S.E. Iowa Union Strongholds

Iowa Congressman Bruce Braley paid campaign visits to several southeast Iowa union halls yesterday.

Stopping first in Burlington, he had lunch with members of the IBEW, UAW and Operating Engineers, thanking them for their help with the campaign, reminding them that there’s still lots of work to do, and telling them that he’s the candidate that will make sure the economy works for everyone, not just the rich and powerful.

Braley says major corporations don’t need another Senator — working people do — to help them get the minimum wage raised and to maintain & even increase Social Security and Medicare benefits, by requiring the wealthy to pay into the systems the same percentage of their incomes as the rest of us do.  He says his opponent, Joni Ernst’s, idea to let future recipients invest Social Security and Medicare benefits privately is just wrong.

Braley also his audience that he’s worked “across the aisle,” with Republicans many times on successful legislation, much of it lately to benefit veterans…and he’ll continue doing that, if he’s elected to the Senate.
