Six Men Now Running for Burlington City Council Seat

A sixth man has filed the necessary papers with the Des Moines County Auditor’s office to run for the open seat on the Burlington City Council.

Marcques Derby of 426 South Adams collected signatures and turned in his nominating petitions late yesterday(Weds). Derby joins Jim Davidson, Chris Reed, John Sandell, Tracey Watts and Dan Wischmeier on the list of names that’ll appear on a December 2nd primary ballot. The two highest vote-getters will compete again on December 30th, with the winner to serve the rest of former member Becky Shockley’s term, about three years.

*For the record, those who’d like to run have until the end of the day on November 7th to get several dozen signatures and turn in their petitions.
