Neighbors Don’t Like Rezoning Request; Council to Discuss it Tonight

The Burlington City Council meets today(Mon) at 5:30 and will hold two public hearings, one on a proposal to rezone John McCormick’s property at 25-35 Mt. Pleasant Street from General Commercial to Multi-Family Residential.

Most recently, the lot contained a small building from which McCormick sold bird food…but he wants to sell it to a developer, who’d like to put up an 8-unit apartment building.

A number of neighbors object to the plan and have signed a petition opposing it. The Council will also hear Alliant Energy’s annual report tonight(Mon) and will officially set a November 17th public hearing date on a resolution that would eliminate Saturday bus service.
