It’s election day and on the Illinois side of the river, there are several Henderson County races of note.
Democrat Patty Daniels and Republican Amanda Van Arsdale-Rousonelos will
battle it out for the job of County Clerk & Recorder…Republican Jodi Scott and
Democrat Bonnie Harris are victims of state-mandated consolidation, so they’re
competing for Regional Supt. of Schools for Henderson, Knox, Mercer and
Warren Counties. (Republican John Meixner is running unopposed for the
Regional Super’s job in Hancock, McDonough, Fulton and Schuyler Counties.)
Henderson County voters will choose five, at-large County Board members from
among seven candidates — Democrats Robert Peterson and Gary Gibb and
Republicans Bradley Flatt, Richard Clifton, Bill Knupp, Steven Giertz and Deborah
Pflasterer. And Henderson County voters will cast their ballots for either
incumbent Congresswoman Cheri Bustos…a Democrat…or former Congressman
Bobby Schilling…a Republican. Sheriff Steven Haynes…a Democrat…Treasurer
Tina Droste…a Republican…and GOP State Representative Randy Frese…are all
unopposed.
Henderson County will also help to choose a Governor…from among incumbent
Democrat Pat Quinn, Republican challenger Bruce Rauner or Chad Grimm on the Libertarian ticket…..a U-S Senator…from Dick Durbin, the Democratic
incumbent…Jim Oberweis, his GOP challenger…or Libertarian Sharon
Hansen…..an Attorney General from incumbent Democrat Lisa
Madigan…Republican candidate Paul Schimpf…or the Libertarian
hopeful…..Secretary of State from among incumbent Jesse White…his GOP
challenger Michael Webster…or the Libertarian…..Controller from among
Democrat Sheila Simon…Republican Judy Baar-Topinka…or a Libertarian
candidate…..and State Treasurer from among Republican Tom Cross…Democrat
Michael Frerichs…and a Libertarian choice.
