In Hancock County, the only competition is among the statewide and
Congressional candidates on this election day…which, in Hancock’s case is the 18th District, where incumbent Republican Aaron Schock is facing a challenge by Democrat Darrel Miller.
In the County offices, Democratic Clerk & Recorder Kerry Asbridge is
unopposed, as are Treasurer Kristine Pilkington…Sheriff Scott Benzinger…States
Attorney Jason Pohren(porn)…Regional School Supt. John Meixner…and County
Board members Pat Cramer, Don Little, Jerry Smith Sr. and Stephen Finney…all
Republicans. There’s no name on the ballot for County Board member District-
4…and the judges all get either a yes or no for retention.
In the Village of Elvaston, voters will be asked whether they want to reduce the
Board of Trustees from six members to four…..and residents of the Colchester
Fire Protection District will decide if they’d like a point-4 percent tax increase to
start an ambulance service.
