Downtown Burlington Flood Followup Tonight; Public Encouraged to Go

There’s an important meeting at Burlington’s Memorial Auditorium tonight(Weds).

It’s a combination information and public input session on the City’s efforts to fight future flooding on the downtown riverfront.  City Planner Charlie Nichols says time is of the essence, because Burlington is in a competitive race with other cities to get millions in grant funds.

Much of the attention so far has focused on the parking lot between the auditorium and the Port-of-Burlington, an area that Burlington Steamboat Days depends on for its summer festival, but Nichols says the organization is on-board as long as they can get what they need.

Tonight’s(Weds) information and input session will be held in Memorial Auditorium, beginning at 7.  The community is encouraged to attend.
