Carbon Monoxide Fills Downtown Burlington Peterson Buiding

The Peterson Building(at 214 North 4th Street) in downtown Burlington had to be evacuated yesterday(Weds) afternoon, when carbon monoxide alarms starting going off and firefighters discovered elevated levels of the compound throughout the 4-story brick structure.

As it turns out, paramedics evaluated five people who had been inside…one of them was treated at the scene…and the victim refused to go to the hospital.

Alliant Energy responded to the office building and shut off gas…and it was determined that repairs are needed for the chimney to the boiler. City inspectors declared the building unsafe until those repairs are made.

The Peterson building is owned by Gene Delpreore.  It contains offices for business, the 8th Judicial District, a dental practice and apartments.
