“Soft” Groundbreaking for SCC-South Industrial Training Building

Southeastern Community College officials conducted another symbolic groundbreaking Friday, this time at the south campus in Keokuk.

School President Dr. Michael Ash says the construction of a new Industrial Technologies Training Center is an important step in the life of the college, and training is not the only thing the new construction will accomplish — it’ll create more space for other programs once the facility is built.

Ash says SCC is heading in a new direction…one that’ll go hand-in-hand with the area’s economic development efforts.  Dave Rector is director of SCC’s Industrial Operation Maintenance Skills program and he says there’s a crying need in southeast Iowa for trained Industrial Maintenance people.

Ash says the actual groundbreaking will take place in the spring, just before construction begins on the new, $4.2-million training center.
