Mrs. Pauline L. Hobby, 83, of Lomax, IL passed away Thursday, November 20, 2014 at the Baptist Medical Center in Brownsville,Texas.

She was born February 11, 1931 in Carman, Il, the daughter of Manford Lloyd and Ruth Pauline Johnson Gittings. On August 1, 1951 she married Willam L. Hobby in Burlington, IA. He preceded her in death onApril 23, 1997.

Pauline worked in the housekeeping department at the formerBurlington Medical Center for 23 years, retiring in 1993. She was a member of the LaHarpe American Legion Auxiliary and the Lomax Christian Church. She spent the last 20 winters in Texas. Her greatest joy in life was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by one son, Gary Hobby of rural Lomax, one daughter, Peggy Nixon of rural Keithsburg, Il, five granddaughters, 13 great-grandchildren and one sister Juanita Stein Ballinger of Nauvoo, IL.

She was preceded in death y her husband and parents.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 29, 2014 at the Lomax Christian Church with Rev. Karen Fraser Moore officiating. Burial will be in the Terre Haute, Illinois Cemetery. There will be no formal visitation but friends may call anytime between 2:00 and 7:00 PMFriday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe. Richard Lee Osborne, 84, of Burlington, died at 2:33 PM Monday, November 24, 2014, at the Burlington Care Center in Burlington.

Born October 27, 1930, in Burlington, he was the son of William Harold and Margaret M. Fitzgerald Osborne. On October 17, 1952, he married Ella Mae Adams in Kahoka, MO.

Richard worked for C B & Q Railroad and then was a self-employed truck driver for over 30 years, retiring in 1992.

He was a U.S. Marines Veteran, serving during the Korean War from December 29, 1950 until May 10, 1952. He held the rank of Corporal receiving the Korean Service Medal with Star and United Nations Ribbons.

He enjoyed going to flea markets, fishing, hunting, and mushroom hunting.  He loved to play cards and games of any kind.  He especially enjoyed his time spent with his daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Ella Mae; three daughters, Becky (Chris) Barr of Mt. Pleasant, IA, Janey (Bob) Timmerman of Wapello, IA, and Robbie (Randy) Ford of Burlington; six grandchildren, Rob (Tina) Pforts, Ed (April) Pforts, Traci (Jason) Bender, Tammy Barr, Brandon Ford, and Sara (Bruce) Ware, one step-granddaughter, Haley Henn, 22 great-grandchildren, three brothers, William Osborne of Burlington, John Osborne of Burlington, and Jim Osborne of Burlington; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Robert Osborne, one sister, Shirley Schwartz, and four step-brothers, Denver Wagner, Bill Wagner, Austin Wagner, and Darl Wagner, Jr.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Thielen Crematory.

Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM Wednesday at Thielen Funeral Home where the family will receive friends.

The memorial service for Mr. Osborne will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, November 26, 2014, at Thielen Funeral Home with Pastor Dianne Brokken officiating and full military honors rendered by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard.  Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery at a later date.
