Leopold 6th Grader Detained, Then Forgotten; Principal on Leave

More staff trouble in the Burlington School District.

Aldo Leopold Middle School Principal Brian Gravel has been put on paid administrative leave for allegedly leaving a 6th grader unattended in a one-hour, after-school detention room for more than two hours last Thursday and then going home. Eventually, she left on her own and spotted a custodian, who put her in touch with a pair of teachers working after-hours. They contacted district officials.

The District has initiated a review of its after-school detention procedures and will investigate the incident further.

Burlington High School Associate Principal Mark Yeoman has been named Interim Principal at Leopold.
