Obituaries Tuesday December 9th

Leonard A. Johnson, 71, Burlington, died Sun 12/7 at his home.  He is survived by 3 sons, Larry,  Matthew and Michael all of Burlington, 2 daughters, Lisa McGinity and Kelly Walker both of Burlington, a sister, Linda Durfee of Arkansas, 7 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter.

Memorial Funeral Service will be at 1PM Thursday 12/11 at Lunning Chapel.

 

 

Eleanor Louise Booth, 82, of Burlington, Iowa, died at Burlington Care Center, Burlington, Iowa, on Saturday, December 6, 2014.

 

Born on October 11, 1932 in Burlington, Iowa, she was the daughter of Edward J. and Louise I. Ebert Kramer. She married Kenneth W. Booth on December 27, 1958 in Burlington, Iowa. He died on September 23, 1914.

 

Eleanor was a nursing assistant at the Burlington Medical Center Klein Unit. She enjoyed reading, playing bingo and going to the casino. She was a member of the 1996 Sunday Foursome Bowling League and SS. John & Paul Catholic Church.

 

She is survived by two sons, Duane (Nancy) Booth of Burlington, IA and Michael Booth of Rock Falls, IL; one daughter, Bernice Stoffel of Crestview, FL; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Kevin J. Booth; and one sister.

 

The graveside committal service for Eleanor Booth will be held on Friday, Dec. 12, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Fr. Hai Dinh will officiate. No formal visitation is planned; friends may call at Prugh’s Chapel on Thursday from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

The memorial service for Mrs. Helen Toft, 90, of Manning, South Carolina and formerly New London will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 13, 2014 at Elliott Chapel, New London.  Pastor James Roth will officiate with inurnment being held at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, rural New London.  Visitation will begin at noon on Friday with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m.
