Burlington School Boss to Outline Changes in Suspension Procedures

Burlington Schools Supt. Pat Coen will be our guest on “The Talk Show,” this(Weds) morning at 10.

We’ll be sure to ask him about the changes to be made to the district’s detention rooms, including the one at Aldo Leopold Middle School, where a girl on after-school suspension was left alone for more than two hours while the principal went home. The issue was discussed at Monday night’s Burlington School Board meeting.

In West Burlington, Board President Lenny Sanders has resigned; he and his family will be moving to Ft. Dodge and the board will have to decide whether to appoint …or let the people elect…a replacement. Michelle Randall will serve as President in the meantime. On another front, former WB City Council member Dan West says he’s looking into ways to get School Board member Jay Day removed from the Board. West is upset with some personal Facebook comments Day made about him on Mayor Hans Trousil’s Facebook page.
