Obituaries Thursday December 18th

Ms. Ruby Annabelle Bavery, 83, of LaHarpe, IL passed way at 1:15 PM Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at the hospice house in West Burlington, IA. She was born on September 29, 1931, the daughter of Floyd and Charlotte Bolton Bavery.

She attended school in Basco, IL and was a 1949 graduate of the Warsaw High School. She then entered St. Francis School of Nursing in Macomb, IL, graduating in 1952. She took 6 months of post graduate class in surgery at the Cook County Hospital in Chicago.

Ruby worked 5 years in surgery at St. Francis and in 1957 she started working in Dr. Dively’s office in Macomb. She worked there until 1993. She then worked at the Elms Nursing Home in Macomb.

Ruby loved people and she never saw a stranger. She also enjoyed newspapers, reading 4 dailies, every day. She and her sister loved to travel, and she had driven in all 50 states. She enjoyed reading, quilting, high school sports and time spent with family and friends. She was a member of the Union Church of LaHarpe, Western Illinois Threshers and until her health failed, the Webster Quilters.

She is survived by a sister Mildred Bavery of LaHarpe, a brother, William (Kathryn) Bavery of Stronghurst, IL, two nieces, Suerrette (Wayne) Franck of Aledo, IL Alisa (Tom) Skinner of New Lenox, IL, two nephews, Floyd Bavery of Gladstone, IL, Edward Bavery of Minnesota, 4 great-nephews, Brad Bavery of Gladstone, Walt and Will Franck of Aledo, Tyler Skinner of New Lenox, two great-nieces Erin Bavery of Nashville, TN, and Andrea Skinner of New Lenox, and a sister-in-law Donna Bavery of St. Cloud, MN.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Edward and Edgar Bavery.

 

Friends may call after 3:00 PM Friday, December 19, 2014 at Banks and Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, December 20, 2014 at the funeral home, with Pastor Mark Hanson officiating, with a graveside service following at 2:00 PM in the West Basco Cemetery, near Basco. A memorial fund has been established for the Blandinsville-Hire Library and the Oak Grove Cemetery Association, Hamilton, IL. Condolences may be left a www.banksandbeals.com.

 

John Robert Nollen, 56, Kansas City died Monday 12/15 at Truman Medical Center in Kansas City.  He is survived by his father and step-mother, Verner “Red” & June Nollen of Burlington, sisters, Cindy Stewart of Burlington and Lisa Nollen of Chanhassen, MN, brothers, Terry Nollen of Lincoln, Nebraska and Ronald Nollen of Burlington.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1PM Sat 12/20 at SS Mary and Patrick Catholic Church, West Burlington.  Burial in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.  The family will receive friends following the Rosary at 630PM Fri 12/19 until 9PM at Lunning Chapel.
