As budget talks draw near, the Burlington City Council heard last(Mon) night from City Manager Jim Ferneau…who says things should be manageable, if the status quo is maintained.
On another front, the Council agreed…in principle…to support the Greater Burlington Partnership to the tune of $20,000. Federal Mogul is competing with other companies for a proposed $950,000 expansion, an expansion that would create up to 28 new jobs.
Southeast Iowa Regional Airport Director Mary Beaird gave her annual budget report last(Mon) night and she told the City Council that any plans to try and sell the old armory property across Summer Street should be dropped. Industry-wide, Beaird says there’s starting to be a pilot shortage and it may get worse before it gets better.
