Floyd’s, Federal Mogul, Get Green Lights from Burlington Council

The Burlington City Council finalized it last(Mon) night — Floyd’s EZ Way Container Service at 21-31 Summer Street is now zoned properly…something that hasn’t been true for more than a decade.

The vote to correct the mistake was unanimous, but it came at a price — neighbor Karen Steinnagel…who lives on Windsor Circle…accused the City of catering to the airport…which leases the land to Floyd’s…and to the business itself…which has operated illegally for more than 10 years…..

Councilman Tim Scott…who also lives in the area…accused Steinnagel of exaggerating.

New Councilman Jim Davidson…who won’t be sworn in til next week…says there are really two issues in-play — the zoning, which has now been rectified…and the way Floyd’s does business, which should now be scrutinized more closely.

On another front, the council…with very little discussion…formally approved a state grant application Federal Mogul is making to help it pay for a $950,000 spark-plug packaging addition.
