Burlington Council Will Take Initial Stab at City Budget Tonight

The Burlington City Council holds one of its every-other-week work sessions today(Mon) and City Clerk Kathleen Salisbury will swear in new member Jim Davidson.

She couldn’t do it at last week’s regular meeting because the results of the election hadn’t been canvassed yet.

Under “discussion items,” this afternoon are the annual audit report…proposed repairs to River Park Place…next year’s budget…the SRO Middle School update…and some appointments. Today’s(Mon) meeting is at 4:30 and the public is welcome.

This Thursday at 5 the Council will hold the first in a series of budget work sessions.

Also on the KBUR News Calendar:  The Southeastern Community College Board of Trustees meets today(Mon) at 5 on the West Burlington campus and will discuss some student retention initiatives and deal with a number of matters pertaining to the new Health Sciences building and $4.8-million in new jobs training certificates.

And the Burlington School Board meets tonight(Mon) at 7 and will talk some more about in-school suspensions and the rooms in which they’re conducted. Members are also expected to accept the resignation of BHS Associate Principal Brian Gravel, after three years.
