Second Round of SCC Bids Good

Southeastern Community College’s governing board has given its seal of approval to a local contractor for the new Health Professions Center on the West Burlington campus.

The school’s trustees met this week and awarded a $6.79-million contract to Bi-State Contracting of West Burlington, the lowest of seven bidders for the project. Construction on this building and the new Industrial Technologies complex on the Keokuk campus should both begin sometime in March.

SCC’s administration was given a bit of a scare several months ago, when only one bid…close to $2-million over budget…was submitted. This round, the winning bid was almost a-million below estimates.
