Hyndman Says Closing Mt. Pleasant Mental Health Institute a Bad Move

The man in charge of finding treatment for Des Moines County’s mentally ill population is upset with Governor Terry Branstad’s decision to not fund the Mt. Pleasant Mental Health Institute.

Ken Hyndman and Kenton Cole…the union local spokesman for the workers at Mt. Pleasant…confirm that if the two centers south of I-80 are allowed to close,(the other one is in Clarinda) trips the mentally ill will have to take for treatment may last 4 to 7 hours, and will be much farther away from family and friends.
