A majority of Burlington City Council members said at last(Mon) night’s work session that they still want to hire another officer for the police department.
….but the question remains, how to pay for it. City Manager Jim Ferneau presented three alternatives, ranging from no property tax increase but 10 spending cuts…to a 4 1/2 cent hike with five reductions…to an 11-cent tax jump but no spending reductions.
No final decisions were made last(Mon) night, although the Council still seems intent on cutting the Convention & Visitors Bureau budget by $120,000.
Very little discussion took place regarding the physical condition of the police department building on North 3rd Street.
