Burlington Sees 9″ of Snow; Others More, Some Less

A trained spotter says the Burlington area got about nine inches of snow over the weekend.

Add to that the rain we received earlier, which turned to ice…and the blowing and drifting…..and there were some nervous motorists. A few had to sit powerless, while their car or truck slid into the ditch…there were a few rollovers…some injuries, but no fatalities in this area, to our knowledge.  At least three vehicles got stuck on Pleasant Grove Road late last(Sun) night when high winds drifted the 1300 block shut…and a semi had to leave Highway 34 west of the ethanol plant, when visibility got too bad.

There were some scattered power outages, including about three dozen customers on Burlington’s south side…and the City posted its Snow Emergency Parking Prohibition shortly after 3:30 yesterday(Sun) morning. It was lifted at 6:05 this(Mon) morning.

Some other snowfall totals around the region: Keokuk, 4 1/2 inches…Cantril, 6…Roseville, 8…Washington, 9…Scotland, Missouri, 9 1/2…Kewanee, 11 inches…Muscatine, 13…and the Quad Cities, 13-14.
