The investigation continues into yesterday’s(Tues) early-morning fire at 312 Mellinger Avenue in Gulfport.
The blaze gutted the mobile home and resulted in chemical burns to a Gladstone firefighter. He was taken to Great River Medical Center…treated and released. Crews from Gulfport, Oquawka, Biggsville, Gladstone, Burlington and West Burlington fought the fire, which could be seen for several miles in the pre-dawn darkness.
At least one law enforcement source I talked to says the cause of the fire could be considered suspicious. The Illinois State Fire Marshal’s office has been called in to help with the investigation.
