Obituaries Wednesday February 4th

Sharon Lynn Snider, 64, West Burlington died Saturday 1/31 at the Great River Hospice House.

She is survived by her husband Richard “Dick”, 2 sons, Jeremy Starman of Westerville, OH and Andrew Snider of Deerfield, FL, a sister, Nancy Reighard of Burlington and a brother, Jim Von Ende of Iowa City & 3 grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 4-6 PM Friday 2/6 at Lunning Chapel.

 

Robert “Bob” P. Ensminger, 87, of Middletown, died at 12:13 PM Tuesday, February 3, 2015, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.

 

Born October 7, 1927, in Wayland, IA, he was the son of Iliff and Neva Peel Ensminger. On October 23, 1988, he married Barbara Davis Lundeen in Lake Tahoe, NV.

 

Bob was an engineer at the U.S. Gypsum.

 

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

 

He enjoyed racing cars, wood working, remodeling, and metal work.  He especially loved spending time with family and friends.

 

Survivors include wife, Barbara of Middletown; two sons, Robert “Bobby” (Nancy) Ensminger of Burlington and Todd (Natalie) Ensminger of Carman, IL; two daughters, Pam Schultz of Chesterfield, VA and Candy (Jim) Murray of Coralville; four stepchildren, Linda (Roger) Junker of Burlington, Teresa Payne of Burlington, Melanie (Frank) Leininger of Franklin, IA, and Julie (Rob) Richmond of Salt Lake City, UT; 16 grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one brother, Jerry Ensminger of Florida; two sisters, Wanda Tyrrel of Burlington and Sandy (Tom) Raines of New Mexico; and several nieces and nephews..

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; and one sister.

 

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Thielen Crematory.

 

The celebration of life for Mr. Ensminger will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM Monday, February 16, 2015, at the National Guard Armory in Middletown.

 

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for Great River Hospice House.

Ronnie L. McGinnis, 73, of Dallas City, Illinois passed away at 4:30 a.m. Sunday, February 1, 2015 at the LaHarpe-Davier Health Care Center, LaHarpe, IL.

He was born March 13, 1941 in Dallas City, the son of Helen Welborn McGinnis. He married Kay Fish on June 15, 1962 to this union they were blessed with three daughters, Julie, Lisa and Diana. On December 30, 1977 he married Carol Parker in Dallas City and with this union he was blessed with another daughter Denise Parker.

Ronnie loved playing cards, family gatherings, labrador puppies, hunting and fishing. He will be greatly missed by family and many friends.

Survivors include his wife Carol of Dallas City, four daughters, Julie (Glenn) Loveland of Dallas City, Lisa Amaya of El Paso, TX, Denise McGinnis of Ft. Madison, IA and Diana (Roger) Boeding of Moscow, IA, one sister, Judy Leinbach of Sarasota, FL, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Marilyn Terrell.

Services will be held a noon Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City with Rev. Jim Luder officiating. Burial will be held at a later date. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established for his family. Condolences may be left at banksandbeals.com.
