Snow, Then Extreme Cold, Bring Constant Reminders of Winter

The snow is over and now here’s the cold.

The City of Burlington cancelled yesterday’s(Weds) parking prohibition on snow emergency routes at 3 o’clock this(Thurs) morning.

As for yesterday’s(Weds) snowfall totals, they ranged from a depth of 5.8 inches west of Cantril (in Van Buren County)…to an inch southeast of Washington (in Washington County). Some of the in-between amounts were 2.3 inches northwest of Burlington…2.7 southwest of Industry (in McDonough County)…3 inches southeast of Keokuk and in Clark County, Missouri…4 inches east of Packwood (in Jefferson County)…and 5 inches of snow northeast of Colusa (in Hancock County).

State troopers and other authorities on both sides of the river are urging drivers to be aware of hazardous travel conditions, including snow…ice…black ice…and emergency & snow-removal vehicles.

In spite of the below-zero cold now though…Saturday’s ice-fishing clinic at Des Moines County’s Big Hollow has been cancelled because of poor ice conditions.
