Toyer Focuses on WB Audience

The West Burlington City Council heard from Economic Development Director Dave Toyer last(Weds) night.

He focused on the services his parent group…the Greater Burlington Partnership…provides to West Burlington, specifically…including the certification process for a number of potential industrial sites on the edges of the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant.

The head of the Greater Burlington area’s economic development efforts says West Burlington has a potentially very useful heavy-industrial site in its midst — the 70-acre, former Pre-Cast Concrete property.

On another front, Lt. Rich Hand…who’s been running the day-to-day operations of the police department in Chief Frank Newberry’s absence…told the City Council last(Weds) night that Newberry…who is now partially paralyzed…has been coming to the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays, once for as long as six hours. By the way, there’s a benefit concert Chief Newberry and his family Saturday night at 7 at the Capitol Theater in downtown Burlington.
