Silgan to Build Packaging Plant in Flint Ridge Business Park

The “I’s” have not all been dotted, nor the “T’s” crossed, but KBUR News has learned that Burlington’s Flint Ridge Business Park will soon be home to a huge packaging plant, owned by Stamford, Connecticut-based Silgan Holdings.

Greater Burlington Partnership Economic Development Director David Toyer says the $6.2-billion company will invest approximately $125,000,000 in a 412,000 square foot factory and warehouse that’ll take up 34 acres of Park property and employ 120 people.

Silgan was founded in 1987 by former Continental Can Company executives Phil Silver and Greg Horrigan…it has 17,000 employees across North America and Europe, including Fort Madison…and counts among its dozens of customers Del Monte…Avon…Campbell Soup…ConAgra…Procter & Gamble…Coca Cola…Pepsi…Smucker’s…Nestle…Miller-Coors…Pinnacle Foods…Kraft…Mars Candies…Clorox…Heinz…Dr. Pepper-Snapple…General Mills…Hormel…McCormick…and Johnson & Johnson.
