IEDA Gives Doran and Ward Expansion Nod, Tax Benefits

The Iowa Economic Development authority has awarded Doran and Ward with the tax benefits it sought as it undergoes a $1 million expansion project.

The IEDA board announced the decision on Friday. Benefits include payroll tax credits for the 13 jobs the company is expected to create with the expansion, meant to increase capacity.

“This is our idea of growth,” Doran and Ward facility manager Vance Hemke told the Burlington City Council on Tuesday.

Doran and Ward operates two facilities in Burlington. The company produces film wraps, rack cards, paper wraps, and folding cartons as well as other printing products.

IEDA announced several other big investments as well. Including support for a $9 million project with Hirschbach Motor Lines in Dubuque, a $65 million project with McKesson Healthcare for a forward distribution center in Clear Lake, an expansion at Plastipak’s Ottumwa Facility, and tax benefits for a physical therapy clinic in Sioux City.
