Mediapolis, Keokuk Wrestlers See Success, West Burlington Beats Notre Dame

Wrestling:

Mediapolis is on top of the State Wresting 2A Championships. Mediapolis has 21 points to put them in first in the Class 2A Bracket. In an upset, 2nd ranked Mediapolis wrestler Cole Erickson lost to Dubuque Wahlert’s Andrew Turner during a quick, last second pin. Burlington’s Garret Grimshaw. Burlington won 2 of it’s five matches on the first day, and still has two wrestlers in the contest. Keokuk went undefeated on the opening day. New London’s Avery Jacobs won his first round while Wapello’s team suffered four straight losses to end their season.

Boy’s Basketball:

In boys basketball action West Burlington beat Notre Dame, 70-65. Highland beat Central Lee 54-50. Danville beat New London in the 1A district quarterfinals 83-51, Van Buren beat Cardinal 52-36, Winfield-Mount Union beat Pekin 48-41, Wilton beat Louisa-Muscatine 69-35, Illini West beat West Central, 62-56.

Men’s Basketball:

In Men’s Basketball the Iowa Hawkeyes routed Rutgers 81-47 at home.

NBA Basketball:

On the NBA courts tonight in Detroit, the Chicago Bulls take on the Detroit Pistons at the Palace at Auburn Hills. It’s their first game back since beating Cleveland before the All-Star Break.
