An anonymous tip to Southeastern Community College triggered a campus-wide search for two allegedly armed individuals at SCC’s West Burlington Campus on Monday.
Campus officials say that a tip came in early Monday afternoon that two men on campus had guns in their backpacks. The West Burlington Police was notified and ended up detaining someone at a location off-campus. It’s not know if the person detained was arrested.
SCC Spokesman Jeff Ebbing says the college has not been able to independently verify whether or not any firearms were located.
SCC Students received information through the campus alert system shortly after police were notified.
Police are continuing their investigation. Ebbing says there is no immediate threat to students and all evening classes are still on.
