18 Year Old Allegedly Steals $54,000 from Des Moines Grocery Store

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — An 18-year-old has been accused of stealing more than $54,000 from a Dahl’s grocery store in Des Moines when she worked there.

Authorities say Selma Suljic is charged with theft. Online jail records say Suljic remained in Polk County Jail on Tuesday, pending $10,000 bail. Online court records don’t list the name of a defense attorney who could be contacted to comment on Suljic’s case.

Suljic’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for Monday.

A police report says two managers at the Dahl’s store where she worked reported seeing Suljic take money from the store’s safe and say they think she took more than $54,000 over a six-week period.
