Fort Madison Man Killed in SW Iowa Crash

(AP) A Fort Madison man is dead and two others, including a 3-year-old, injured in a one-vehicle rollover in southwest Iowa.

The Iowa State Patrol says 23-year-old Brandon Perez of Fort Madison was pronounced dead at the scene near Red Oak. Thirty-year-old Hilary J. Knox, also of Fort Madison, and an unidentified child were airlifted to the Nebraska Medical Center and Children’s Hospital & Medical Center, respectively. Their conditions weren’t immediately known.

Investigators say Perez was driving a vehicle early Sunday when it dropped off the shoulder of U.S. Highway 34. The report states Perez overcorrected, causing the vehicle to cross the road into a ditch before rolling over several times.

Knox and the child were thrown from the vehicle.

An investigation is ongoing.
