Obituaries Friday April 3rd

Mary Jane Baker, 84, of Burlington, died at 12:23 AM, Thursday, April 2, 2015, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.

 

Born September 28, 1930, in Iowa City, she was the daughter of Frank Oscar and Frances Verl Palmer Murray. On October 3, 1947, she married George Theodore Baker in Burlington.

 

Mary Jane was a homemaker.

 

She was a graduate from Burlington High School.  She was a member of Grace Anglican Church.

 

She loved her family very much, and Sandy, her big yellow and orange long haired cat, and she cherished her friendship with many friends. She enjoyed reading, puzzles and traveling on vacations with her family, and husband, George. She enjoyed living in Iowa, Arizona, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Minnesota, because of her husbands jobs.

 

Survivors include her husband, George of Burlington; two sons, Rev. Dr. David K. (Jean Marie) Baker of Boise, ID and Bruce D. Baker of Davenport; one granddaughter, Sherri K. Evans of Roseville, CA; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother.

 

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Thielen Crematory.

 

The memorial service for Mrs. Baker will be 10:00 AM Saturday, April 4, 2015, at Thielen Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. David K. Baker officiating.  Burial will be in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery.

 

Memorials have been established for Great River Hospice House and Des Moines County Humane Society.
