Des Moines County Engineer Details Five-Year Road Plan

Des Moines County Engineer Brian Carter revealed the County’s five-year road plan during a Board of Supervisors Meeting on Tuesday, and they plan to get quite a bit done. That $500,000 bump in funding from the local share of the State’s New Gas Tax is being put to use, too.

But Carter says that even with that increased revenue, there is a lot of work to be done–over $26 million in the five year road plan alone.

“We’re thrilled that we have the increased revenue…but [with] the size of our system, there is always work to be done that we aren’t getting to nearly soon enough,” said Carter.

The work includes paving or repaving a number of county roads, most notably Mediapolis Road, replacing bridges, culverts, and railroad crossing signals.
