Century Link is reporting that a fiber optic wire was damaged in Burlington, leading to widespread phone outages throughout the area.
Crews are on scene repairing the damaged cable as of 2:00pm Tuesday.
Some 911 Calls are getting through to Des Moines County Law Enforcement. If you are having an emergency and are unable to contact law enforcement via phone, head to your nearest police or fire station.
It’s unclear if any other law enforcement agencies are experiencing difficulties.
Verizon Cellular Service has been affected. It’s unclear if any other cellular services are affected.
