Obituaries Wednesday May 6th

Ruby Jean Brown, 69, of Burlington, Iowa died Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at Great River Medical Center, West Burlington, Iowa.  She was born January 30, 1946 in Memphis, Tennessee, the daughter of Charlie and Millie Belcher Mitchell.  She married Eugene Brown March 8, 1980 in Burlington, Iowa.

Ruby was a homemaker; she lived in Sikeston, Missouri as a child.  She served as an usher in her church. She loved to cook and help others.

Ruby is survived by her husband, Eugene; two brothers Charles (Talethia) Mitchell and John (Mary) Mitchell both of Burlington, Iowa; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Barbara White.

Funeral Services will be held in Prugh’s Chapel, Friday, May 8, 2015 at 10:30 a.m.  Pastor Charles Mitchell and Pastor John Mitchell will officiate.  Interment will be in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery.  Friends may call at Prugh’s on Thursday, May 7th after 8:00 a.m.  The family will receive friends Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. A memorial has been established for New Hope Christian Church, 1000 South Central Ave, Burlington, Iowa.

 

Irene Bree Francis, 69, of Burlington, died at the University of Iowa Hospital, Iowa City, Iowa on Monday, May 4, 2015.

 

Born on November 30, 1945 in Waldron, Arkansas, she was the daughter of Orian L. and Mary A. Staggs Peikert. She married Jerry Sonderegger  on January 24, 1970; they later divorced. She married Dr. Guy Francis and they later divorced.

 

Irene was an office manager for Dr. Guy A. Francis, D.O. for 19 years. She was also a dietician supervisor for Oak Lane Rehab, Stronghurst, Illinois for 8 years. She also volunteered  for Meals-On-Wheels. She loved riding motorcycles and was an active member of District 18 ABATE of Iowa. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed darts, yard sales, tag sales and visiting the casino. Time spent with John, her children, grandchildren and her dog “Mazzie” was very special to her. She was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).

 

She is survived by her lifetime companion, John Reusch of Burlington, Iowa; one daughter, Wendy G. Miller of Burlington, Iowa; one son, Kyle Sonderegger of Burlington, Iowa; one grandson, Reece; two sisters, Sonja (H.O.) Hoover of Ozona, Texas and Brenda K. Petty of Livingston, Texas; several nieces and nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Carolyn Peikert; and one brother-in-law, Randy Petty.

 

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Prugh’s Chapel. Pastor David Yonker will officiate. Interment will be at a later date following cremation.

 

The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. in Prugh’s Chapel.
